SECURE PIN is an application which allows the owner of a bank card to enter its PIN code on the mobile device (e.g. smartphone or tablet) of a merchant in order to proceed to a card payment.
This is part of a larger solution which is called PIN on Mobile and must include also a card reader, a merchant app and a monitoring back-end. The card reader is connected to the mobile device via a Bluetooth connection. It has neither a keypad nor a screen. That’s why the PIN entry is done on the mobile device of the merchant.
SECURE PIN provides a secure user interface for PIN entry and delivers the encrypted PIN to the card reader. The security of the mobile is closely and constantly monitored by the SECURE PIN and the monitoring back-end through the use of software protection tools and an attestation procedure. It allows to repudiate the mobile device and the card reader if any risk is detected (e.g. rooting, malware).
SECURE PIN is compliant with the latest security requirements from card schemes like Visa, Mastercard and CB.
